The Facts: As an unrestricted free agent, Benson was not expected to be in Cincinnati for the two weeks of Bengals workouts. However as reporters watched Wednesday’s combined session at the University of Cincinnati practice field, Benson was a surprise participant.
Diehards Line:Following the practice, Benson said that he attended last Thursday’s session and has been at all three this week. With Benson being the team’s top offensive priority to re-sign once the lockout ends, seeing Benson out there is an extremely encouraging sign. According to Enquirer staffer Joe Reedy, Benson, who has rushed for over 1,000 yards the past two seasons, reiterated his desire to re-sign with the Bengals. That is something he has said since late February after Jay Gruden was hired as OC and both of them had a chance to talk. With Gruden wanting to get back to a running identity, that is a challenge that Benson would welcome. It seems like something Fantasy Football owners would also be just fine with, too.
