The Facts: Davis is the latest player to be informed that he’s getting the franchise tag on Friday, according to ESPN 980 in Washington. It has since been confirmed elsewhere.
Diehards Line:As PFT's Gregg Rosenthal notes, this move was always expected. As Washington’s most explosive offensive player, the Redskins couldn’t let Davis go. With recent suspension for marijuana hanging over his head, Davis also isn’t a great candidate for a long-term deal. While Chris Cooley is expected back with the team this season, it's safe to say Davis will be the primary weapon of choice at the position going forward. Of course, as Rosenthal further suggested, now the Redskins just need to find someone to throw Davis the ball.
