The Facts: HC Ken Whisenhunt says anyone interpreting his pursuit of Peyton Manning as an indication that he lacks confidence in his QBs is incorrect. In fact, Whisenhunt told Albert Breer of NFL Network that the Manning chase has nothing to do with how he feels about Kevin Kolb or John Skelton. "There was a lot made about our pursuit of Peyton Manning, and we all recognize what a great player he was," Whisenhunt said. "But if you go back three weeks ago, before any of this happened, we were excited about our QB position."
Diehards Line:As PFT's Michael David Smith suggested, if the Cardinals were really excited about their QBs, they wouldn't have pursued Manning at all. The teams that are genuinely excited about their QBs -- teams like the Patriots, Giants, Packers, Lions, Panthers, etc. -- weren't in the Manning chase. Still, Whisenhunt said he's excited about the Kolb-Skelton competition coming in training camp. "We have two players that have done good things for us at different points of the year," Whisenhunt said. "We're obviously going to have some competition there, which is what we want. I think there will be some excitement. ..." In other words, the Cardinals have two good QBs instead of one great QB.
