He got married the day before the Jaguars began their strength and conditioning program on April 2 and thus didn’t report for it. A few teammates also missed the first day of the voluntary program so they could attend his wedding. Missing a voluntary workout or practice is not considered a holdout and teams are not allowed to punish players for missing them. Some players skip voluntary workouts to make statements about their contracts, but Jones-Drew’s contract does not expire for two more seasons.
