The Facts: With the third pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Browns select Alabama's Richardson.
Diehards Line:The Browns traded up to get the third-pick overall from Minnesota in order to secure Richardson's services. It's not hard to figure out why. According to his NFL.com scouting report, Richardson is durable enough to handle a season full of carries and is sid to be the best athlete the position has seen since Adrian Peterson. Richardson is explosive, powerful and balanced. He is a heady and instinctual player who is patient enough to wait for blocks and quick enough to cut backfield to daylight. Richardson has a strong core that he uses to break arm tackles and get physical leverage under blitzers in pass protection. He is a true three-down back who can be effective on screens. And for an offense in desperate need of a playmaker to take some heat off Colt McCoy, Richardson fits the bill nicely. The question now is whether Cleveland can add another playmaker -- perhaps a wideout -- to the mix with the 22nd pick overall.
