The Facts: Asked if he believes Hillman can actually take over for Willis McGahee this year, ESPN and Scouts Inc. insider Matt Williamson's answer was yes. “I do,” Williamson said. “Hillman might not be a 300-carry type of guy in Year 1, but he doesn’t have to be. Also, Hillman is a better fit in the Colts/Manning stretch running game than McGahee.”
Diehards Line:Hillman was drafted near the top of the third round because of his potential. He's not yet 21 years old and put up prolific rushing totals in two seasons at San Diego State -- including 1,711 yards and 19 touchdowns as a redshirt sophomore in 2011. His first order of business is squaring off with Knowshon Moreno to be the Broncos' third-down back. But that battle should slow him down much. We'll also note that Associated Press reporter Arnie Stapleton -- a daily observer at Broncos' OTAs -- expressed the same sentiment about Hillman taking over for McGahee as the starter this year. In fact, during a recent appearance on FootballDiehards on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio, Stapleton told listeners he expects Hillman to be the starter by the midpoint of the season. ... It's a situation worth watching.
