The Facts: Following up on a previous item, New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes sustained a foot injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 34-0 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. After the game, Jets coach Rex Ryan said he didn't have specifics on Holmes' injury, which was initially reported by the team as a knee issue. Holmes left the locker room on the back of a golf cart, his left foot booted. He is scheduled for an MRI on Monday.
Diehards Line:Holmes' injury looked eerily similar to Darrelle Revis' from a week ago, so it was somewhat surprising to learn it was his foot and not the knee. He's the only playmaker on the team and losing him for any length of time is bad news for the Jets. We'll have a better idea of how much time Holmes will miss with the injury. Jeremy Kerley and Stephen Hill will likely be the starters, with veteran Chaz Schilens getting involved in three-wide sets. Hill had a big game in Week 1, but has struggled with drops and mistakes since. He sat out this week with a hamstring injury. Kerley plays primarily from the slot, but has made some big catches in limited action. He could be an interesting pickup in deeper leagues, especially with bye weeks underway. Schilens caught all three of his targets today for 45 yards.
