The Facts: Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jerome Simpson experienced tightness in his lower left leg while warming up for Sunday's Week 5 game against the Tennessee Titans. He spent much of the game on the sideline trying to get loose. Simpson first noticed the pain the night before the game, but thought he could shake it off. Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said Simpson had trouble pushing off and lacked strength/explosiveness in the leg. He'll undergo tests on Monday to find out why. Simpson was targeted three times in limited action, but was held without a catch.
Diehards Line:If you took a flier on Simpson based on his cupcake matchup versus the Titans, you were undoubtedly disappointed by his zero catch-zero fantasy points day. We'll have to wait until the test results are in to find out what's ailing Simpson and the treatment program for the injury. Simpson's injury earned extra snaps for Devin Aromashodu and Michael Jenkins on Sunday, but neither should be on a fantasy roster at this point in time. Minnesota is expected to line up Simpson opposite Percy Harvin—an opportunity that would give him plenty of looks and the potential to be a WR3/WR4 fantasy asset if he can produce on a consistent basis. We'll keep you posted on details about Simpson's condition as they become available.
