The Facts: With Vick exiting before halftime of Sunday’s win over the Giants and Nick Foles playing well in place of Vick, HC Chip Kelly was unequivocal regarding the status of the starter. “No,” Kelly said in response to a reporter question on whether Foles’ performance opens up the competition again.
Diehards Line:
Kelly said when picking Vick in August that it was a full-season decision. As PFT's Mike Florio stressed, that doesn’t mean Vick will be able to play next weekend. Vick has a hamstring injury, and he’ll have an MRI on Monday. Vick told reporters in the locker room after the game that his hammy felt “a little sore” and that he’d get treatment Monday morning with hopes to make it back by Tuesday's practice. “I’m hoping so,” he said. “I’ve had this injury before, you just got to do certain things to get it back.” If he can’t go, the Eagles will turn to Foles for next Sunday’s game against winless Tampa Bay at Raymond James Stadium. If Vick can play, he will start. ... Along those lines, WIP Radio in Philadelphia's Howard Eskin is told Vick is likely out at least a week -- and perhaps two. Safe to assume we'll be updating reguarly in coming days.
