The Facts: Victor Cruz wants Nicks to stay remain a Giant. .Nicks, who is set to hit free agency, has the potential to set the market price at the wide receiver position and will likely be too expensive for the Giants to retain. The franchise tag, which would cost more than $10 million, is also out of the equation. "I have (asked him to stay)," Cruz said. "Selfishly, I would love for him to stay."
Diehards Line:Cruz's desire is understandable. He was double-teamed at a significantly higher rate than normal this season, which was due in part to Nicks' inability to gain separation and win jump balls. When Nicks is healthy, though, Cruz is at his best. It's not a surprise he wants those days to return. It would be at least a bit of a surprise if that's how it works out.
