The Facts: Reports that made re-signing Maclin a higher priority for the Eagles than retaining Riley Cooper may not have been correct (Cooper got a new, five-year deal earlier today), but the team does want to bring Maclin back to the team in 2014. Per Schefter, the Eagles and the wideout continue to talk about a new contract but that they are not close on a deal right now.
Diehards Line:
Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer also reports that there are “hurdles to be cleared” before the two sides can come to agreement on a deal. One of them may be the length of the contract. With Maclin coming off of a torn ACL, there has been speculation that a one-year deal is in the cards as Maclin tries to prove himself worthy of a longer and/or more lucrative deal come 2015. Still, McLane reports a deal is still expected to be done before free agency gets underway on March 11.
