The Facts: Bengals owner Mike Brown acknowledged Monday that the looming contract decisions about quarterback Andy Dalton are "a dilemma for us" according to Paul Dehner Jr. of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Diehards Line:
Dalton is entering the final year of a rookie deal. As the Redzone.org notes, he has been a solid regular-season player, posting a 30-18 record and coming off a 2013 year that saw him throw for 4,293 yards and 33 touchdowns. His performance in the payoffs, however, hasn't been as strong; Dalton is 0-3 with a 56.2 post-season passer rating. Probably the smartest thing the Bengals can do in 2014 is to see how the season plays out and then re-evaluate the situation. The team is better paying Dalton a few extra million now than committing their future to the wrong quarterback.
