The Facts: HC Joe Philbin praised Miller several times during his time with the media at the NFL owners meetings, saying Miller has the three things needed in a back: He can run, catch and he’s solid in pass protection. Philbin said he may have over-coached Miller a bit, continuously harping on ball security. But Philbin said at some point Miller needs to break tackles.
Diehards Line:
The coach said he has no problem bringing in another running back as competition, but that he considers Miller the team’s starting running back. Philbin gave a slight praise to running back Daniel Thomas, but it wasn’t nearly as glowing as his praise for Miller. According to Post staffer Andrew Abramson, if the team brings in another running back, it sounds like it will be at the expense of Thomas. Maurice Jones Drew and Knowshon Moreno are both on the team's radar.
