The Facts: Told that by a reporter at the NFL owners meeting that fans will be shocked if Frye is not the Browns' starting QB in 2006, Romeo Crennel said: "Well, they've been shocked before." While those who follow the team closely -- including GM Phil Savage -- expect Frye to be the man this year, Crennel has steadfastly maintained that he has not decided yet who his starting quarterback is. "If I knew," the coach said, "why wouldn't I just go ahead and say?"
Diehards Line:A quick reminder: Crennel worked extensively under Bill Belichick and has demonstrated a talent similar to that of his old boss when it comes to sharing information. ... According to Beacon Journal staffer Patrick McManamon, Frye will not make waves publicly, but he has made it clear privately that he believes the job is his. Trent Dilfer knows that might happen, but he wants to compete for the spot.
