The Facts: If Plummer has any plans to retire, the NFL doesn’t know about it. Not officially anyway. Contradicting reports that began circulating late Friday, an NFL spokesman on Monday told the Tribune that it has not received retirement papers from Plummer.
Diehards Line:Several outlets reported Friday that Plummer filed his retirement papers with the league on Friday. As Tribune staffer Roy Cumming suggested, if that’s the case, then the forms must have gotten lost somewhere, because the league doesn’t have them. What that means is that right now, Plummer is still an active player. If and when he does decide to retire, Plummer must send a letter to the league notifying it of his intentions. At that point, the Bucs can either continue to carry him on their active roster or they can place him on the reserve/retired list.
