The Facts: Following up on the previous update. ... The new search underway the Virginia property owned by Vick is apparently a surprise to local investigators. A source close to the ongoing dogfighting investigation says the US Department of Agriculture Office of the Inspector General has a warrant to search the property. The warrant is from the U.S. Magistrate's office in Richmond and was issued earlier Thursday. Local authorities are not involved in the search, says the source.
Diehards Line:As Profootballtalk.com editor Mike Florio suggested, this is a horrible development for Vick. It means that the federal government is fully engaged in the process. And when federal authorities ask questions, they almost invariably know the answers first. Vick might want to keep that in mind when he's asked for his side of the story. As Florio put it: "If [Vick] thinks he can pull a fast one on the feds, he should chat with Martha Stewart or Scooter Libby. ..." Stay tuned.
