The Facts:
The Ravens' negotiations with Clayton probably were helped by the Raiders' signing of CB Fabian Washington yesterday. As the 23rd overall selection, Washington agreed to a five-year, $7.8 million contract that includes $5.3 million in bonuses. Based on the league's unofficial "slotting" system, Clayton should earn slightly more because he was drafted one pick higher.

This is good news for the obvious reason: The earlier Clayton gets started the sooner he'll contribute.
