Gruden indicated that the 12th-year back could start camp on the physically unable to perform list. "Charlie Garner appears to be a few weeks away," said Gruden. "His situation is being monitored carefully and there's a good chance he'll start the season on PUP."

Further assessment is needed for others, including rookie receiver Larry Brackins, who has been battling a hamstring ailment since June and might also find his way onto the PUP list at the beginning of camp. However, Gruden seems confident that such players as Michael Clayton and Joey Galloway, who Gruden says is running at full speed, will be good to go. ... As for Garner? Making the roster is his primary concern at this point.
