Hines Ward Turns Up The Heat On Steelers
(7/29 9:44 PT)

The Facts:
Ward proclaimed on Thursday that he will not report to training camp -- or show up at any point this season -- until he receives a contact extension. Ward, who has one year left on a contract he signed in 2001, said he's prepared to sit out the entire season if there's no new contract. "I just want my fair market value, that's all I can ask for," Ward said yesterday afternoon. "I'm not asking to break the bank or anything. I just want compensated." Reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Ward's stance on this issue dates back to last offseason, when team president Art Rooney promised to make him a priority in contract discussions this year. On a more positive note, Ward remains optimistic, telling reporters: "I think everything will work out; there's nothing personal, it's a business. ..." Stay tuned.
