The Facts:
Agent Drew Rosenhaus said he's on a mission to find another job for client Billy Volek, possibly by the start of this season. Rosenhaus spoke with Titans general manager Floyd Reese and Titans coach Jeff Fisher yesterday about Volek. He said the team did not give him permission to seek a trade, "but I think if the price is right I am sure they would consider it."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Fisher didn't sound so sure. Volek, 29, started eight games last season for the injured Steve McNair. "To me, that wouldn't make sense," Fisher said. "You have to have two good quarterbacks to have a chance to win. We have two quarterbacks. Why would you give one away unless you have a chance to get a better one? We are not in the business of developing players to play for other people right now. We are developing players for our future." Good luck on this one, too, Drew.
Kirk Bouyelas' View:
After a brief flirtation with free agency, Volek signed a 4-year contract with the Titans in 2004. The deal brokered by agent Ken Staninger pays Volek $6.8 million with an option for a fifth year that includes a $4 million option bonus. Volek also received a signing bonus of $2.2 million. Not bad for a back-up QB. Both Coach Fisher and the Titans front office know just how valuable Volek is to this team and they paid him according. Now Volek has a new agent - Drew Rosenhaus. In what has become a typical Rosenhaus move - Drew wants a new contract, this time via a trade. Given McNair's injury history of late, there is no way this is going to happen. The Titans have undrafted free agent Gino Guidugli as their #3 QB behind Volek. A trade is just not in the cards.
