Cowboys PK Billy Cundiff To Miss At Least A Month
(8/21 2:28 PT)

The Facts:
After nearly making it through the entire training camp without any major setbacks, the Cowboys suffered a big blow on the final day, learning Cundiff will be out 3-4 weeks after suffering a right hip flexor. Not only does it appear he could miss start of the season, but the timing of his injury could even jeopardize Cundiff's future with the team. "That's just the way it is," said head coach Bill Parcells.  Reported by DallasCowobys.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The Cowboys will now turn to Jose Cortez, a three-year veteran who joined the team in mid-camp after the club released rookie free agent Brett Visintainer. "He's going to do all the kicking," Parcells said of Cortez. "He'll sure get a good look now. It's probably his job to lose right now." There is a chance, of course, that Cortez will do just that. The Cowboys will keep an eye out for available free agents just in case.

Kirk Bouyelas' View:
Cundiff... Cortez... Obviously these guys are no more than a bye week kicker. There should be very few situations where you would draft either kicker as your starter. Given their limited fantasy value, owners should really just make a mental note of the situation and move on. On a personal note, I would not suggest drafting more than one kicker anyway. You can pick up a bye week replacement during the season and spend the draft pick on a back or receiver with more potential.
