The Facts:
In Tuesday's post-practice press conference, head coach Mike Tice reiterated that Bennett, who suffered an unspecified neck injury against the Jets, "definitely" won't play in this Friday's exhibition game against the Chargers. Tice then went a step further, questioning whether his starting tailback will be ready for the Sept. 11 regular-season opener against the Buc. "Right now, Mike's out, so I'm moving forward, even for Tampa without Mike. I don't see Mike being anything but an outside shot for Tampa."

Tice went on to say: "I'm not a doctor, but I know anytime you sprain your neck or tweak your neck or have neck spasms or whatever he has, it's hard to put a guy back in there, especially a guy who has taken a lot of hits, unless he is confident in that neck. It's another area where I am probably in my mind moving on with other players right now. ..." Stay tuned. We'll have more as further details are made available.
