Cedric Benson Ends Holdout
(8/28 6:41 PT)

The Facts:
Benson ended his holdout Sunday, agreeing to a five-year contract. The deal comes three days after the first-round pick showed up at team headquarters for an impromptu meeting with Jerry Angelo and 10 days after the Bears GM had issued a statement announcing that the team had made its "best and final offer." "We are happy this process has reached a conclusion and look forward to moving ahead together," Angelo said Sunday. Reported by ChicagoBears.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Benson will now have to work his way up the depth chart with the Sept. 11 season opener in Washington just two weeks away. Backup Adrian Peterson (43 carries for 199 yards and 3 TDs) and starter Thomas Jones (35-184-1) rank fourth and fifth in the NFL in rushing this preseason, respectively, for an offense that's averaging 132.0 yards rushing per game, eighth best in the league.
