The Facts:
Although all indications are that Davis is on target for a strong recovery from microfracture knee surgery, the Panthers have taken precautions to protect their salary cap if he ends up on the injured-reserve list. The Panthers recently restructured Davis' contract to include a $1.25 million split salary. That salary would kick in only if Davis goes on injured reserve this season.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The new contract includes a provision from the old one, where he can earn up to an extra $3.75 million by meeting statistical incentives and if he remains healthy, Davis has the potential to dramatically increase his earnings.
