The Facts:
One day after saying Jones doesn't have a cracked rib, Lovie Smith said Monday the Bears "haven't ruled that out." Smith then added the Bears feel "it's safe to say" Jones' ribs are merely bruised. But either way, Smith sounded like a coach leaning toward resting his leading rusher with the 49ers coming to town this Sunday. Smith said Jones had X-rays taken last week and will again this week.  Reported by the Chicago Tribune

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Cedric Benson and Adrian Peterson filled in admirably Sunday when Jones missed the second half of the Saints game. Jones already this season has played on a knee that was supposed to sideline him for three weeks.
