Jones-Drew Has David Garrard's Back
(6/21 2:33 PT)

The Facts:
The Jaguars made a strong statement about where they envision the future as far as the starting QB position when they drafted Missouri QB Blaine Gabbert. Selecting him 10th overall, the Jaguars appear ready to move on at some point from Garrard. However, star RB Maurice Jones-Drew doesn't think that it's time to move on yet from Garrard. Reported by The National Football Post

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Jones-Drew made a case for giving Garrard more time to orchestrate the offense. "I just feel like what we needed as an offense wasn't a new quarterback, we just needed another year amongst each other because we had a lot of new players come in," the star tailback said during an NFL Network interview. "You see a team like the Patriots or the Steelers or the Colts, those guys (have) been in the same system for the 10, 12 years together, and so that's what we're trying to grow right now." Jones-Drew acknowledged being shocked that the Jaguars drafted a quarterback so high, but team officials told him that Garrard could actually improve through competition. But as NFP's Aaron Wilson suggests, Gabbert wasn't drafted 10th overall to sit on the bench forever. Even if Garrard wins the battle to retain the job this season, at some point management will want to find out what Gabbert can do.
