The Facts:
The Jaguars have already crafted a plan for how to divide the repetitions under center whenever football resumes. According to OC Dirk Koetter, incumbent starter David Garrard will take the lion's share of the snaps followed by first-round rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert and veteran reserve Luke McCown. Garrard will get roughly 40 percent of the reps followed by Gabbert (30 percent) and McCown (20 percent).

"What it does is create a situation where Blaine will be learning the offense as if he’s the (No.) 2," Koetter told the Jaguars' official website. "Luke will technically be the three, but competing to be as high as he can go. It forces Blaine to come along without putting pressure on him to come in and be the starter. ... We're going to look to balance the reps. That helps define it for the quarterbacks. ..." But the Jaguars plan to start Garrard again. "Some other teams draft a guy in the first round, they’re probably counting on that guy coming in and being the starter," Koetter said. "In our case, that guy does not have to be the starter and in this kind of a year, we have enough weapons on offense we can be fine with Dave at quarterback. ..." The coach was quick to add, however, if Gabbert is able to beat out Garrard this year, it would have to be considered good news for the Jaguars.
