The latest round of negotiations between the two sides — the fifth since they began hopping from city to city for clandestine meetings — kicked off Tuesday with Goodell, Smith, their attorneys and staffs but no owners or players. With conflicting reports suggesting varying amounts of progress being made (and some indicating the lack of same), we'll continue to follow up while trying not to get overly optimistic or pessimistic. But we'll once again note that a deal needs to be struck soon in order to avoid the loss of preseason games and the not insignificant revenue that goes with them.
