The Facts:
Following up on an ongoing story. ... Is Tennessee a possible landing spot for Hasselbeck? Absolutely. The question will be how much money Titans owner Bud Adams will pony up to pay a free agent knowing that he's also going to be on the hook for Jake Locker's rookie contract.

So wrote Times staffer Danny O'Neil is assessing the story we'll all be talking about once the lockout ends. There's really no doubt that Kerry Collins' retirement means the Titans will be looking for a veteran QB to bridge the gap until Locker is ready to start. Not only that, but three of the Titans' top front-office executives came from Seattle: Mike Reinfeldt, Ruston Webster and Lake Dawson. That means they've got some familiarity and a great deal of affection for Hasselbeck, who's unsigned at the moment. And O'Neil added there's some history in Adams letting a QB develop slowly. After his franchise -- then the Oilers -- drafted Steve McNair No. 3 overall in 1995, the team signed Chris Chandler as a free agent earlier that same year and Chandler remained the team's primary starter for two years until he was traded to Atlanta.
