The Facts:
After missing most of last year with an injury, Grant was recently asked if he's still considered the starter heading into training camp. "From what I’ve heard, that’s the conversation that was told to me," he replied. "I was told that by [former RBs coach Edgar Bennett], initially. Jerry [Fontenot, the new position coach] didn’t tell me that anything changed. Jerry told me that as of right now I’m still the leader of the backfield and the expectations won’t change. ... I do believe there will be competition, which is fine. I’m all for that.”

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
After suffering major ankle and knee injuries in the season opener, Grant was shelved for the remainder of 2010. In his absence, the Packers made due with a committe comprised of Brandon Jackson, John Kuhn and James Starks. Though Starks flashed some impressive numbers near the end of the season, it's a safe bet that Grant -- a two-time member of the 1,200-yard club -- will regain his role as the team's primary ball carrier. But what if Starks is able to beat him out in training camp? Could Grant be a backup? “If it was in the best interest of the team, I’m all for it. ..." While we believe Grant will indeed get the first shot at the starting job, Fantasy Football owners will want to watch closely to see how capable he looks of holding onto it. Gauging Grant's chances of fending off Starks will be the biggest factor in determining the value of both once camp opens.
