More Optimism About NFLPA Agreeing To Proposed CBA Monday
(7/23 3:24 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on the previous item. ... According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, NFLPA executive direction DeMaurice Smith and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell have worked directly to assure that nothing goes off path in the final talks on the proposed CBA. The NFLPA Executive Committee were called and filled in on the discussions this morning. NFL Network insider Albert Breer believes they have been told to be ready to travel to NFLPA headquarters on short notice. Mortensen expects a press conference announcing the deal Monday.  Reported by FootballDiehards.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As previously noted, NFL owners and players have tentatively agreed to a plan that would allow for the players' executive committee to vote on Monday to recommend accepting the CBA and recertifying as a union. Under the plan, players would begin reporting to training camps as early as Wednesday to physically vote on whether to recertify, with the hope that it will be done by Friday at the earliest. ... While we'll continue to suggest it's not over until it's over, ESPN's Adam Schefter was optimistic enough to post the following on Twitter just moments ago: "Welcome back, football."
