The Facts:
Smith will not wait long to officially re-join the 49ers, he said Monday. When the NFL lockout officially lifts and he is allowed to sign a contract, he will return to the 49ers for a seventh season. "I'm not going to wait for anything," he said. "I'm sure it'll be pretty quick. I'm sure it'll move fast. It's pretty well set in stone, I think."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
When asked if his expected one-year deal will have an option for a second season, Smith answered, "I'm not going to get into that stuff until it's officially signed." Smith emerged as a 49ers leader this offseason, organizing get-togethers for offensive players to learn the new West Coast system playbook that HC Jim Harbaugh is bringing back to the 49ers. Despite the fact that Smith is all but guaranteed to re-sign with San Francisco, rumors that the team is interested in Matt Hasselbeck have begun to circulate -- although they might be an effort to increase his leverage with Seattle and Tennessee, the two teams known to be interested.
