The Facts:
The Cardinals opened the free agent and trade period on Tuesday pursuing four options to fill their starting QB job. They have had trade talks with the Eagles for Kevin Kolb and with the Broncos for Kyle Orton. They also have been in discussions with the agent for Matt Hasselbeck and with Marc Bulger's representative, according to sources.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
In a press conference on Tuesday, HC Ken Whisenhunt declined to discuss specific players, but said he would be surprised if the Cardinals made traded or signed a QB today. The process is too complicated, he said, to pull off in one day. As Republic staffer Kent Somers notes, that's particularly true of a trade, and word is the Eagles' are asking for a considerable amount in return for Kolb, 26. The Cardinals are believed to be
willing to part with CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and perhaps an additional draft pick, but not a first-rounder. If the Cardinals and Eagles were to agree to trade terms, the Cardinals would then want to work out a long-term deal for Kolb, who has a year left on his contract. It likely would take considerably less to obtain Orton, and the Cardinals have Orton and Kolb rated closely in talent. Somers added, however, that his sources caution against ruling out Hasselbeck signing with the Cardinals. As
previously noted, the veteran will not return to Seattle.
