The Colts were expected to sign a veteran QB to guard against Peyton Manning not being ready for the start of training camp while he recovers from neck surgery. Davis was a 2009 fifth-round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers. He spent two seasons with the 49ers. Davis was briefly with Seattle before the Seahawks released him in January. Curtis Painter is also on the roster as a backup quarterback.
