It would appear the Bengals are laying the groundwork for a future without Carson Palmer, who has threatened to retire rather than play another down as a Bengal. Owner Mike Brown reiterated on Tuesday that Palmer will not be traded. Gradkowski's signing would be another indication that the team is moving on without Palmer and with rookie Andrew Dalton as the likely starter. Gradkowski would bring starting experience as either a mentor or No. 1 man if Dalton struggles.
