The Facts:
In a move that surprised…well, nobody, the Eagles traded Kolb to the Cardinals Thursday in exchange for CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a second-round draft pick. What may come as a surprise is the fact that Kolb just inked a five-year, $63 million deal with $21 million guaranteed.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The deal had been rumored for quite some time, as the Cardinals desperately needed a QB of the future. The question now is whether they got that. After being selected in the second round of the 2007 NFL draft in a move that surprised many, Kolb instantly became the heir apparent to longtime QB Donovan McNabb’s throne in Philadelphia. But the 2009 acquisition of current starter Michael Vick threw a wrench into that plan when Vick stepped in and performed admirably for an injured Kolb in a Week 1 showdown against the Packers last season. ... Can Kolb can live up to the price Arizona paid? The guaranteed money is less than Kolb was reportedly asking for, but still a lot for what Profootballtalk.com's Gregg Rosenthal correctly pointed out is a QB with seven uneven career starts. For his career, Kolb has completed 61 percent of his passes for 2,082 yards and 11 touchdowns with 14 interceptions. Rosenthal points out that Houston made a similar deal for Matt Schaub which worked out, although they didn’t give up a solid young starting CB. ... Other possibilities for the Cardinals included Kyle Orton, who might have been a better value. But the Cardinals appear to be swinging for the fence. ... Remember: Kolb won't be allowed to practice with the Cardinals until Aug. 4, the same day that any incoming veteran free agents would first be allowed to work out.
