The Facts:
The Bears have agreed to contract terms with former Steeler Spaeth, a massive (6-7, 270 pounds) blocker-type in the general mold of Brandon Manumaleuna, signed at the outset of last year’s free-agency period. The Bears have since reported they informed Manumaleuna he will be released.

If Greg Olsen wondered last offseason where -- or if -- a tight end like himself fit into Mike Martz’s offensive schemes, his doubts may have just ratcheted up a notch. According to CSNChicago's John Mullen, having signed TEs in each of the past two offseasons in addition to drafting Kellen Davis in 2008, the likelihood of Olsen being traded has increased dramatically after the Bears failed to move him on draft day 2009. It appears even more likely after
a pair of e-mails sent out by Olsen's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, last night. Olsen has one year remaining on his rookie contract and whether he is a Bear on opening day now becomes problematic. ... Spaeth, meanwhile, has never caught more than 17 passes in a season and his 36 career catches are three short of Olsen’s career low, done in his rookie year.
