The Facts:
Mike Shanahan isn’t shying away from it. He’s knows his stature as a coach is in play with his plan to go with John Beck and Rex Grossman as his QBs in his second season with the Redskins. “You talk about a guy not being experienced — I believe in the guys,” Shanahan said. “I believe in `em. And I’ve been doing this for a long time. And I put my reputation on these guys that they can play.”

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Beck and Grossman have combined for four NFL starts over the last three seasons. Beck hasn’t played in a regular season game since 2007. Beck and undrafted rookie Ben Chappell were the only QBs on the field Friday morning at the first practice of training camp. Grossman is a free agent, but the team plans to re-sign him to compete for the starting job. Kellen Clemens, who agreed to terms with the team earlier this week, can't practice until Aug. 4. ... Meanwhile, Shanahan continues to leave himself diminishing wiggle room with his backing of Beck. “John’s done a good job on the first day of practice. I don’t want to put him in the Pro Bowl yet, but he’s close,” said Shanahan, who then quickly added: “It’s a joke.” We'll try not to read too much into that last sentence.
