According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cardinals are trading Hightower to Washington for a conditional late-round pick based on play time, along with DE Vonnie Holliday.

The move isn't a huge surprise from the Cardinals' perspective. They're clearly going in a different direction with Beanie Wells and rookie Ryan Williams atop their depth chart at halfback. ... As for the Redskins, Hightower's presence further clouds an already murky situation. In fact, with Hightower, Ryan Torain, Keiland Williams and rookies Roy Helu and Evan Royster all on board, the Skins might have five players capable of starting at the position (although Williams has reportedly been working at fullback in early practice sessions). ...
