The Facts:
Torain is expected to visit a hand specialist Wednesday evening after injuring his left hand during the morning practice. Coaches are confident Torain wouldn't miss more than a couple of weeks if his hand is fractured. They don't believe his availability for the regular season is in jeopardy.

But as Times staffer Rich Campbell suggests, the sight of Torain sitting out Wednesday afternoon's walkthrough with his hand heavily wrapped couldn't have been comforting. It was unclear exactly how he was injured during the morning practice. "He just hit his hand," HC Mike Shanahan said. "It might just be sprained. ..." Torain began training camp last week as the first-string RB, and his ability to stay healthy will go a long way toward securing the top spot. He has been plagued by injuries throughout his career.
