The Facts:
Burress has "tweaked" and ankle and will be held out of practice for "maybe one or two days," HC Rex Ryan said, while working out independently.
Reported by the Newark Star-Ledger
Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Players with new contracts would be permitted to practice for the first time this afternoon, pending the ratification of the new CBA. It was expected to be the Jets' first true gauge on Burress' physical condition after a 20-month prison sentence for illegal gun possession. Ryan indicated the injury -- "something small," he called it -- was not related to the chronic ankle Burress managed while with the Giants. Burress confirmed that the injury is to his left ankle, not the joint that bothered him with the Giants. "Nothing major," Ryan said. "I want to be smart with him." Ryan said the team will approach Burress' return to football at a measured pace, easing him in with the Sept. 11 opener against the Dallas Cowboys as the goal.
