Garrard told Times-Union staffer Tania Ganguli his back didn't tighten after being knocked down on Thursday, rather a deep ball he threw started the process, then it progressively got worse. Garrard said in a normal offseason he would have had more preventative care, with access to the Jaguars training staff, which was off limits to players during the lockout. That preventative would care include chiropractic treatments and specialized massages. ... Ganguli reminded readers that back issues have plagued Garrard, but have never kept him out of a game. Last season he was limited in a few practices with the back tightness.
