Report: Donovan McNabb's Contract? 1-Year, $5 Million
(8/7 12:8 PT)

The Facts:
When the Vikings acquired McNabb via trade, he signed a contract to replace the much-hyped five-year, $78 million contract that was negotiated after McNabb was benched in crunch time of a loss to the Lions. The new numbers hadn’t made their way to the media, since it’s not exactly the kind of deal about which anyone in the McNabb camp should be bragging. We’re told it’s a one-year, $5 million contract. Reported by Profootballtalk.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As PFT's Mike Florio notes, that’s only $1 million more than the $4 million average of the two-year deal that former Vikings starter Tarvaris Jackson signed in Seattle, and it’s $11 million less than what the guy who ultimately replaced McNabb in Philly, Michael Vick, will earn this year. ... On a more positive note, Florio suggests that McNabb’s willingness to accept such a low amount, relatively speaking, could be the best evidence that he no longer cares about his image, and that he simply wants to play football.
