The Facts:
Holmes recently met with a spine specialist to determine if the injury to his spinal canal has subsided. The news, however, was not what was expected. Apparently the injured area has not healed like they had hoped it would. Initially, Holmes was told that the spinal canal would hopefully heal within 30 days and he could then resume his career. Instead he was informed that the area has not healed sufficiently and the doctor wants to re-examine him in another three months.

So, a one-month injury has now turned into, at a minimum, a four-month injury and the report suggested teammates question whether it would be worth it for him to risk further injury to his neck just to fight it out Larry Johnson at camp next year.
