The Broncos are trying to sign longtime nemesis Brown, who reportedly shares their interest. "If we think a player can come in and make us better, then sometimes we go after that player," head coach Mike Shanahan said.

Denver does not need Brown to be its featured receiver. It needs him only to complement Rod Smith, Ashley Lelie and the young receivers who make the roster. It will be up to Brown to decide if he is content with a No. 3 receiver role and the money Denver offers. Tampa Bay is also said to be interested.
