The Facts:
It's premature to identify a leader to replace Herman Edwards, but the name receiving the most play inside and outside the organization is Sherman. The former Packers coach, fired last week after a 4-12 season, is considered a strong candidate, according to a person familiar with the Jets' thinking. The Jets have yet to arrange an interview for Sherman, but they are doing their homework on the Mike Holmgren disciple.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
So far, the Jets have arranged at least one interview among candidates outside the organization. They will meet early in the week with Joe Vitt, who has close ties to Jets GM Terry Bradway. Former Saints coach Jim Haslett, another casualty of last week's "Black Monday," also is expected to interview with the Jets.
