The Facts:
Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Monday that he has appointed Herm Edwards as the 10th head coach in Chiefs history. Edwards agreed to a four-year contract with the club. Per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreement were made available. As compensation for Edwards, the Chiefs have traded a fourth-round draft choice in 2006 to the N.Y. Jets.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The 51-year-old Edwards, a friend of Peterson, was 39-41 in five years with the Jets, but made the playoffs three times, more than any previous Jets coach. He began his NFL career in Kansas City as a personnel executive and then an assistant coach under Marty Schottenheimer. It remains to be seen how his arrival will impact the team's offense. We'll obviously have more on that aspect of this hiring in coming days.
