The Dolphins signed Johnson, who worked out for the team on Dec. 13. The team already has three tight ends in McMichael, Lorenzo Diamond and Alex Holmes.

Johnson, a second-round pick in the 2003 NFL Draft, was in training camp with the Raiders last summer, but was released before the start of the regular season. He then signed with the Cardinals, appearing in seven games and hauling in just three passes for 29 yards.
