Following up on the
ongoing story. ... David Cutcliffe, Manning's former offensive coordinator at the University of Tennessee and close family friend, vouched for the quarterback's health and ability as Manning attempts to return to play after missing all of last season. Having seen Manning throw several times in the last three months, Cutcliffe said Manning was "right on target" to return next season. "It's incredible how much progress he's made in throwing the football," Cutcliffe told the Nashville Tennessean.

Cutcliffe added: "He's gotten his arm strength back and his accuracy is there. I'm not an NFL coach, of course, but I think I know what it takes to complete passes in the NFL and it's clear that Peyton can make all those throws." Those comments jibe with what former teammate Brandon Stokley has said about Manning. Of course, Titans owner Bud Adams, who has offered manning a contract "for life," doesn't seem to be all that worried about Manning's ability to throw. And while there are reports suggesting all the teams Manning has visited remain in play, this seems to be heading in a certain direction with the Titans and Broncos having the most realistic hopes of landing the former Colt. ... Meanwhile, it's widely believed the Titans signing of OG Steve Hutchinson will serve as further "Peyton Bait. ..." Stay tuned.
