Smith led the 49ers to the NFC championship game last season and although he was a free agent, the assumption through most of the offseason what that he would return. The 49ers leap into the Peyton Manning derby, though, apparently changed the dynamic for Smith, who visited today with the Dolphin. This after Miami lost out on Manning and another free-agent Matt Flynn. The Dolphins then turned to Smith, who Post staffer Mike Klis reports will get a multi-year deal worth about $8 million a year. ... Stay tuned. This is getting very interesting.
